E. coli and Irritable Bowel Disease

Scientists have found that E. coli (bug) that thrives in the gut of the patients who suffer from irritable bowel disease.  E. coli can use nitrate to respire, grow and multiple in the human gut.  In patients with irritable bowel disease, the E. coli flourish and due to which harmful bacteria in the guts of patients suffering from irritable bowel disease outrun the good bacteria and causing more damage to the intestine of the patients.
